The S1000 RR will be available to the general public next year, with BMW’s general director Hendrick von Kuenheim saying the company was well on track to producing the 1000 production units by the end of 2009, as stipulated by the WSBK rules. While specs for the new S 1000 RR are still to be released, Kuenheim has hinted there could be some surprises for BMW fans, such as a special traction control, which confirmed speculation surrounding electronic rider aids, but didn’t reveal anything about suspected electronic suspension adjustments.
Kuenheim admitted BMW has a big challenge ahead with the bike, what with the experience the Japanese manufacturers have, but assured BMW fans it is equipped and up to the task to produce a viable WSBK contender.
