- Tough and fun
- Sporty and aggressive look
- Room for two riders
- Safety features aplenty
- Fully automatic transmission
The RZR 170 is the latest in kids adventure Side by Sides – a smaller version of its bigger brothers, and a perfect compromise for safety-conscious parents.
Engineering and appearance
The Ranger RZR 170 has a four-stroke, air-cooled, 169cc engine with electric start and an automatic transmission.
It has a sporty, aggressive look and holds a driver and passenger.
Safety features
The Ranger RZR 170 includes all the safety features you could want; a removable ignition key, hand-activated parking brake, electronic throttle safety control, daytime running lights, side nets, full cab frame, retractable three-point seat belts, hydraulic disc brakes, speed controls to enable adults to set a maximum speed control limit and colour coded foot controls.
The RZR 170 features a fully automatic CVT transmission with reverse. It is extremely easy to use as well; just select the forward gear and go.
Test ride
Smaller journos reported that the RZR 170 handles very well, simply turn the steering wheel and off you go.
Suspension was excellent; the 170’s five inches of travel all round eating up the bumps and rough terrain with no problems and with bugger all feedback through the steering wheel.
And while roll-over is always a danger with Side by Sides, the 170 features a fully enclosed cab frame, a must for safety.
The 170 also has ample storage space for food and drink.
